outstubborning a cat

I've always been a huge fan of cats. I used to think that I was, and would always be, solely a dog person. I viewed dogs as constant companions that follow you through every step of life, celebrating the good, mourning the bad. But then, when I got my first cat, Darcy, around five years ago, I realized that while dogs might be a better friend, cats are life's companions. They are always there, watching, silent. And while some might be aloof and distant, many are quiet keepers, coming to us when we need a cuddle, or snapping us out of our dazes with an annoyed gaze and an exasperated "meow".

But no matter how cats are painted, they are "human" and everyone has a goofy side, no matter how hard they try it. I saw this video on Paint the Gown Red the other and I could not stop laughing. I've watched it a couple times since then, and every view cracks me up. Enjoy.

Wishing many smiles on many faces.

october dress project // day 3

Teachers aren't what they used to be... Okay, well, maybe I'm just straddled with the ones that are subpar. I am homeschooled and do all my work on my computer, through an online school that has teachers, and classes and grades and the whole shebang. I've been doing it for my entire highschool life and while there are a lot of great teachers, a lot are downright horrible. They don't respond to your questions, or messages, they don't let you see your corrected work --only giving you a grade-- and some don't explain the work, forcing you to learn it on your own. My aunt is a math teacher and even she has said that a couple of the teachers that I have would never be hired at her school. Funny thing is, a lot of the below-average teachers are younger. That is kind of worrying. I kind of want to be a teacher after university. Are they teaching teachers differently now?

As I will be participating in NaNoWriMo this year for the first time, I've been planning and outlining and planning some more like a lunatic these past few days. With 50,000 words to write in a month, I don't want to ever, ever ever ever, get stuck and not know what to do next. I've got the chapters all generally outlined, but I need to go into more detail as to what I want each scene within the chapters to be like. It is really time consuming because it takes a lot of brainpower to first think up what you want, how you want it to be read, what atmosphere you want, and then write it all down clearly so that you don't confuse yourself later on.

Sorry for the long wait for this post. I had taken at least seventy five pictures during this shoot (I have a love/hate relationship with my self-timed, ten-photos-in-a-row setting) and I had to root through all of them to find the best and I haven't had much time. Plus, for some reason, I couldn't upload any pictures to blogger for a couple days.

october dress project // day 2

Day 2 of the October Dress Project. Even though it is only the second day and I have a ton of remix ideas. I'm starting to get a little worried... This dress is pretty all on its own and that is how I've been wearing it mostly (with a few accessories of course)... but I know how boring that can be. So I'll be trying harder to actually do different types of outfits.

I have been searching for an indoor location to take these pictures. It needed to have enough natural light, an okay looking background, and a place to put the camera. I usually do it outside, but I don't have a tripod and I don't want to ask my sisters to take pictures for the entire month. I was walking around our house tying to find a good location and getting a little frustrated because we don't have a lot of windows and our hallways are really thin so I can't set up a makeshift tripod with boxes and stuff. But then, as I was taking a break, I realized that the room I was in was perfect. Three walls are completely windows, and its an overall pretty room, with plans, and bookshelves and a piano. So I think I'll be sticking to the solarium from now on for the ODP.

october dress project // day 1

Day 1 of the October Dress Project. I actually just recreated this outfit today since I didn't have time on Tuesday to actually take any pictures. I also took the photos for yesterday's outfit and today's, but I still have to find time to weed out the not-so-great ones and edit the ones I'll be posting up here. Hopefully, I'll get that all done tomorrow.

After quitting horseback riding lessons last year due to my financial circumstances, I was pretty upset. I had just bought these boots and a new riding helmet both of which I had only used a couple times. These boots though, are fabulous and people are always surprised when they find out that they are meant for riding. The helmet is another story though... I still haven't found a way of incorporating it into my wardrobe.

On a completely unrelated subject. I am in dire need of tights. I totally ruined these black ones the other day. I ripped the waistband and now it not longer stretches and just hands limply around my hips, threatening to fall down at any moment. Plus, it has evolved into a partial legging, the toe of the left foot totally ripped apart, rolled up at my ankle. Not cool. Worst part is that I have no time to do a shopping trip. So I'm stuck with my green and blue tights until then.

outfit of the month // october

I am really starting to enjoy these monthly outfits. Sure, they make me want to spend a ton of money which I obviously can't do, but they also give me ideas about what I want to look for the next time I go thrifting.

Dress: Swirled of Possibility
Tights: Knit's Warm in Here
Shoes: Weatherworn Report in Molasses
Bag: Truly Gritty and Gorgeous
Scarf: Chill Out on the Town Scarf in Cream
Necklace: Got All the Antlers
I'm actually really jealous of this outfit right now. I want it so badly... Especially the dress, the tights, and the bag. Does anyone have $200 to permanently lend me?
